5 Things You Should Never Do If You Have Sensitive Skin

While some folks can get away with skipping their moisturiser when they're in a rush; for sensitive skin, the rules are set in stone. If they want healthy skin that doesn't erupt in a huff, their skin care routine and regular habits are sacred. Even unknowingly, the simplest habits can wreak havoc on this skin type. So here's exactly what they should steer clear of to keep their sensitive skin safe.

1. Skipping the trial patch

When trying new makeup, refrain from applying it without a test patch. Even a seemingly innocent beauty product can have compounds that don't agree with your skin and make it itchy. Have a little willpower, try a test patch behind your ear, under your wrist or neck and notice if there are any reactions in a few hours. If not, the coast is clear.

2. Going in harsh handed

To get that spanking clean feeling on your face, don't get overzealous and overdo it when cleansing, massaging or scrubbing your skin. A harsh hand can tear apart vessels and cells-sounds horrible, doesn't it? Gently using your fingertips to keep the dirt and dust away is more than enough for your sensitive skin.

3. Choosing fragranced products

They may smell like a bouquet of roses, but your sensitive face probably won't agree. Fragranced beauty products can contain up to 200 chemicals or botanical compounds, any of which your skin could react to. Instead, opt for products which are fragrance-free or unscented as they are less likely to cause a reaction.

4. Touching your face

Whether you're leaning on your hands or rubbing your face, any form of unnecessary contact with your sensitive skin is bad for you. Your hands come in contact with so many surfaces which are full of bacteria and dirt. Imagine transferring that onto your face - Icky, right? So keep your hands clean, hygienic and away from your face, always!

5. Using a dirty phone

How many times do you lift your phone to your ear? Too many times to count, we guess. So imagine how many times the oil and makeup from your phone screen get plastered onto your face! A dirty phone screen can clog your pores and leave your sensitive skin prone to eruptions too so use cleansing wipes to keep its surface spic and span.
