So you've walked into a salon with a celebrity picture for a fresh new colour job. You then spend hours in the chair getting your colour done, wash it off and expect to find a Kylie Jenner-esque head of hair staring back at you. Unfortunately, it looks nothing like you imagined and you can't bear the thought of living with it for the next 3 months.
Hair colour jobs go wrong every day, whether you try it at home or even in the hands of a reputed professional. Fortunately, there are ways fix it, fairly quickly. We hope you never have to face this, but in the eventuality that you do, here's what you can do.
1. Your Blonde Hair Is Too Brassy
If you jumped onboard the platinum blonde trend a la Lisa Haydon, you might find your hair turning orange, yellow or green, more so if you are a natural brunette. If you spot these tell-tale signs of brassiness, turn to purple toned shampoo or conditioner like Morgan's Colour Collection Shampoo, which is made for blonde or silver toned hair. Violet formulas reduce brassiness and enhance the cool tones of blonde hair.

2. Your Shade Is Too Dark
When shifting from a light shade to a significantly darker colour, you might find that it's too dark and that you now resemble Morticia Adams. But don't fret - first, wash off the colour as quickly as possible. Next, use a clarifying shampoo like Biotique's Green Apple Purifying Shampoo from root to tip to do so. Shampoos like these are meant to remove dirt and clarify the scalp, and so they also do an excellent job of removing excess colour and lightening the hair considerably.

3. You Don't Like It
Especially if you've tried a funky trend like unicorn hair, sometimes, no matter how hard you or your colourist tries to convince you that you will come around to your fresh shade, you just don't like it. In such cases, there's one simple solution - ask your colourist to go a few shades darker or just buy a boxed hair colour like L'Oreal's Casting Creme Gloss Colour and do it yourself. Depending on the original colour you've chosen, darker shades can cover bright hues quite well so that no one will know a thing.

4. Your Roots Don't Match
While exposed roots are a trend that many celebrities have been seen sporting, lately, most regular folks tend to think of the look as unkempt, not stylish. So if you find that your hair isn't matching your roots and it's bothering you, opt for a root concealer like L'Oreal's Magic Retouch Root Concealer, perfect for temporarily changing the shade of the roots. For a more permanent solution, opt for box colour that matches the hair lengths or check in at the salon for a root fix.
