As soon as the House assembled for the day, SP, RJD and some JD(U) members criticised the government's "autocratic move" to pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Soon SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and JD(U) president and NDA Convenor Sharad Yadav marched to the Well to protest the passage of the bill in the Upper House on Tuesday. (Read: Women's Bill - Yadavs meet PM, say not OK)

When the House adjourned, several Congress members were seen walking up to party chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and congratulating them for the passage of the bill.

As tempers ran high in the House, Lok Sabha officials removed pen stands, notebooks and files kept on the Reporters' table and those on the table of the Secretary General apparently keeping in mind the unruly scenes witnessed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

In an effort to avoid a repeat of the severe disruptions in the Rajya Sabha, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar called a meeting and decided that items like paper weights, which could cause injury if flung by irate MPs, will be banned in the House. Other items like drinking water glasses have also been banned.

Meanwhile, the BJPsaid the government must introduce the bill in the Lok Sabha in thissession itself.

There are reports that the government is keen to push the Finance Bill first, the government has not ruled it out.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Bansal told NDTV that it ispossible to bring the Bill in Lok Sabha before the recess but allparties have to be consulted first.
