Vijay Oath Ceremony LIVE Updates: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Chandrasekar Joseph Vijay will be sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister shortly, ending days of uncertainty over the government formation in the state which saw the assembly election results on Monday.

Vijay took five days, four meetings with the governor and unending negotiations with potential allies to cross the magic majority mark of 118 in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The 51-year-old actor-turned-politician, whose TVK won 108 of 234 seats in last month's elections, met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday and claimed the support of five MLAs of Congress, two lawmakers of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and two each from the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

Since Vijay was elected from two constituencies and will have to vacate one seat, the alliance's total stands at 120 MLAs.

Vijay will take the oath at 10 am at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai to give Tamil Nadu the first non-DMK, non-AIADMK government in nearly 60 years.

Tamil Nadu Politics LIVE: Meet Vijay's 9 Ministers

The initial cabinet reflects Vijay's attempt to balance political experience, youth representation, technocrats and caste equations while rewarding members of his core team who stood by him through the party's rapid rise.

Among the prominent faces in the cabinet is veteran leader KA Sengottaiyan, who has worked closely with former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa over decades. Sengottaiyan was expelled from the AIADMK after he openly questioned the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami and criticised the party for failing to bring expelled leaders back into the fold. His inclusion is being seen as Vijay's attempt to add administrative experience and political weight to the fledgling government.

Another key induction is Aadhav Arjuna, considered one of Vijay's trusted strategists and part of the party's inner circle. Arjuna won from Chennai's Villivakkam constituency and has played a major role in TVK's organisational planning. He is also the son-in-law of lottery businessman Santiago Martin.

Nirmal Kumar, who won from Thiruparankundram in Madurai, is also set to join the cabinet. A former BJP functionary, Nirmal Kumar switched political camps and emerged as an important face for TVK in southern Tamil Nadu.

TVK General Secretary Anand, known for his strong grassroots network, will also take oath. Anand won from Chennai's T Nagar constituency and has been instrumental in expanding the party structure at the booth level.

Among the other ministers to be sworn in are Raj Mohan, a television and film personality known for his oratory skills, and Dr TK Prabhu, a dentist-turned-politician who secured victory from Karaikudi.

Arun Raj, a medical doctor who quit his IRS career to join TVK, is entering the cabinet after winning from Tiruchengode, his home turf.

Chennai's Mylapore MLA P Venkataramanan is being projected as an important Brahmin face in the government.

The youngest face in the cabinet will be Keerthana, who won from the Virudhunagar district and is now set to become one of the youngest ministers in Tamil Nadu politics.

Vijay Insisted On Waiting To Get Letter: Inside Story Of Governor Meet

They met four times in as many days, and TVK supporters had accused the governor of delaying government formation, but when Vijay went to the Lok Bhavan again on Saturday, his meeting with Rajendra Arlekar was cordial throughout, sources have told NDTV.

Sources said the governor specifically insisted on examining the support letters from the VCK and IUML while indicating that he had already seen those by the Congress and the Left.

Satisfied that Vijay had the numbers, Arlerkar then asked the actor-turned-politician to indicate his preferred date and time for the swearing-in ceremony. This was eventually decided as 10 am on Sunday at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

Vijay To Head Tamil Nadu's 1st Non-DMK, AIADMK Government Since 1967

This is the first time since 1967, when the first non-Congress government (DMK) came to power in the state, that a party other than the two Dravidian heavyweights emerged victorious in the hustings.

While the Dravidian stalwart CN Annadurai ushered in the first non-Congress government in Tamil Nadu post-independence in 1967, the charismatic MG Ramachandran (MGR) installed the maiden AIADMK government 10 years later, unseating the then M Karunanidhi-led DMK government.

Analysis: In Vijay's Delicate Coalition Tango, DMK Holds Some Strings

It's the support of the VCK and IUML - two MLAs each - that finally gave the TVK the numbers to stake claim, but, intriguingly, the two parties claim they are supporting Vijay without severing all ties with the DMK, the principal opponent to the TVK.
