Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that the "sudden demise" of Prateek Yadav was "extremely heartbreaking" as he extended his condolences to the family.

Prateek, 38, was the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder the late Mulayam Singh Yadav and stepbrother of party president Akhilesh Yadav. He died early on Wednesday morning at the civil hospital, where he was rushed to around 6 am.

"The sudden demise of Shri Prateek Yadav Ji, son of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, 'Padma Vibhushan', the late Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji, and husband of Smt Aparna Yadav Ji, Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission, is extremely heartbreaking. Humble tribute," Adityanath posted on X.

"My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the departed soul attains eternal peace and the grieving family is granted the strength to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti!" he added.

Adityanath later reached Aparna's residence to extend condolences to the family. He met Aparna, her two daughters and family members and paid his tributes.

Although hailing from a prominent political family, Prateek, a fitness enthusiast, had stayed away from active politics. However, his wife Aparna Bisht Yadav joined the BJP and is currently the vice chairperson of the State Women Commission.

Prateek Yadav's autopsy report mentioned injuries to his chest, under his right arm, right forearm, right elbow joint, over the elbow and left wrist.

Lucknow Civil Hospital's Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr Devesh Chandra Pandey, on Wednesday said that a medical officer was sent to the residence of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, after his driver came to the hospital seeking urgent medical attention for him.

Speaking to IANS, Dr Pandey confirmed that Yadav was brought dead to the hospital and that his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to identify the cause of death.

Prateek Yadav, who passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday morning at the age of 38, was the husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav and step-brother of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav.

Describing the sequence of events, the Chief Medical Superintendent said: "A medical officer was sent to Yadav's residence after his driver or somebody from his household had arrived at the hospital at 5.30 a.m. seeking urgent medical assistance."

"The medical officer immediately shifted Yadav to the hospital," he said.

The BJP and the Samajwadi Party on Wednesday cancelled their political programmes in Uttar Pradesh following the sudden death of Prateek Yadav, younger son of late SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and halfbrother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The BJP said district-level protests planned by women workers across the state on Wednesday have been postponed following Prateek Yadav's demise.

According to a statement issued by the party, Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary directed that the programmes be deferred in view of the untimely death of Prateek Yadav, husband of BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission vice-chairperson Aparna Yadav.

The Samajwadi Party has also cancelled its scheduled political engagements for the day.

Party sources said programmes involving Akhilesh Yadav, his wife and party MP Dimple Yadav, senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav and other office-bearers were called off following the bereavement in the Yadav family.

Leaders cutting across party lines offered their condolences on the death of Prateek Yadav, younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and stepbrother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. Prateek died after suddenly falling ill. He was 38.

SP leader and Prateek's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav described the death as "extremely sad" and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Among BJP leaders, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya gave his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength for them to bear the loss.

Another Deputy Chief Minister, Brajesh Pathak, termed the news "extremely saddening" and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary expressed solidarity with the grieving family.

Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh described the development as "heart-rending and tragic." Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai grieved the "sudden demise" of the Yadav family member.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday mourned the untimely demise of his step-brother Prateek Yadav, calling him a "very good body" who was always mindful about his health and fitness.

The SP chief arrived at the Civil Hospital in Lucknow, where the mortal remains of Prateek Yadav have been kept for the post-mortem procedure.

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday morning at the age of 38. Yadav was declared 'brought dead' at the Lucknow civil hospital.

The exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed, and a post-mortem examination is being conducted.

Speaking to the reporters, Akhilesh Yadav said, "I have seen him since childhood. It is unfortunate that he is no longer with us today. Since childhood, he has been conscious of his health and his fitness. He wanted to achieve something and go forward in life. He was a very good boy who wanted to do something through his hard work. It is a matter of great sorrow that he is no longer with us today."

DMK President MK Stalin on Wednesday condoled the demise of Prateek Yadav, the stepbrother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and extended support to Akhilesh Yadav and family in this moment of grief.

Stalin wished for strength and assured them that he would always be with Akhilesh Yadav and his family during difficult times, while referring to Akhilesh Yadav as "beloved brother".

"Deeply saddened by the passing of Thiru. Prateek Yadav, brother of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. In moments of such profound grief and pain, my thoughts are with beloved brother Thiru. Akhilesh Yadav and the entire bereaved family. May they find the strength to bear this irreparable loss," he said.

The Chief Medical Officer of the Lucknow civil hospital has constituted a four-member team of doctors to conduct the post-mortem of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav. The procedure is expected to start at around 10:00 am.

This team will perform the post-mortem procedure to ascertain the cause of death, which is expected to take half an hour.

Additionally, a panel of doctors at the King George Medical University (KGMU) will also perform a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

KGMU has also formed a two-member team comprising specialist-level doctors -- Dr Mausami and Dr Shivli. They have been assigned specifically to address any doubts or concerns that may arise during the initial stages of the examination.

Prateek Yadav passed away at the age of 38 years in Lucknow on Wednesday. He was declared 'brought dead' at the Lucknow civil hospital.

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, died at the age of 38 in Lucknow early this morning. He was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav's second wife, Sadhana Gupta.

Prateek Yadav was admitted to the hospital on April 30 in a critical condition, per sources. When he felt some relief after three days, he then went home without being discharged.

When his condition worsened Wednesday morning and he was not reacting, his family rushed him to the civil hospital.

Prateek Yadav had been suffering from lung-related issues for a long time. He was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. When his condition deteriorated in the morning and he stopped responding, his family members immediately rushed him to the Civil Hospital.

The postmortem is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am, with examination expected to take approximately 40 minutes to complete.

In November 2012, a section of Samajwadi Party workers demanded that Prateek Yadav be fielded from Azamgarh in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The push was backed by his mother as well as his uncle Shivpal Yadav. However, despite these efforts, Prateek was not given a party ticket for the election.

In September 2012, Prateek Yadav was featured on an internationally acclaimed bodybuilding website as the "International Transformation of the Month," drawing attention to his striking physical change. His transformation surprised many, as he reduced his weight from over 103 kg to 67 kg while developing a muscular 5'11" frame. 

Prateek attributed this journey to both personal determination and a pep talk from his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, over a decade earlier. He recalled that his weight gain began during childhood after being administered steroids while undergoing treatment for pneumonia in Dehradun, which led him to weigh over 103 kg by the age of 11.
