In Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi Invokes Jayaprakash Narayan: Highlights

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day-long visit to Mumbai where he laid the foundation stone for BR Ambedkar's Memorial and also initiated the construction of two new metro corridors in the city. Wrapping up his visit, PM Modi addressed a public rally at a municipal ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.

Here are the highlights of his speech:
  • I am happy to be here on this day, the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai.
  • A vibrant port sector is very important for a nation blessed with long coastlines.
  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in 15 months has done what was not done in ten years. He's given new strength and speed to port sector.
  • Now port development is not enough. That is why port led development is the key. Ports must have great connectivity.
  • Urban growth is not burden but opportunity.
  • Two sectors are going to be important in this century- coastal sector and space. Be it space and sea, we need to be moving at a quick pace: PM Modi.
  • Our power sector needs to be stronger.
  • We are encouraging 'Sagar Mala project' to connect our port services. It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee's idea which we are taking forward.
  • Suresh Prabhu has done a wonderful work in the Railway Ministry.

  • We know who got the Bharat Ratna when. But they did not give the Bharat Ratna to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
  • Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar faced so many challenges but there was no bitterness in him. He is a Maha Purush.
  • Babasaheb Ambedkar is an inspiration not just for one community but for the entire world.
  • World knows Martin Luther King but not Babasaheb Ambedkar.
  • States with most Dalits and tribals have voted in favour of the BJP.
  • If there had been no Ambedkar, where would Modi be?
  • People are spreading lies that we will end reservation.
  • November 26 will be marked as Constitution Day. People must know about our Constitution, how it was made.
