Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said Piyush Goyal should be called "professor" due to his knowledge
Impressed with his knowledge of the power sector, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan suggested today that Power Minister Piyush Goyal should be referred to as "Professor", leading to a road of laughter in the House.
The comment from the Speaker came during the Question Hour after a long speech by the minister on the status of rural electrification in the country and the steps taken by the government to improve the situation.
After hearing Mr Goyal's detailed speech about the power sector, Ms Mahajan said, "Naam change karna padega, Professor Piyush Goyal (Name has to be changed, Professor Piyush Goyal)," prompting peals of laughter in the House.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Mr Goyal said that all households in the country will be electrified before August 15, 2022 and all villages before May next year - a deadline set by the government. He went on to say that he was happy to announce that the government will complete this task much before the set deadlines.
