Northern Railway plans cancellations during foggy weather
New Delhi: In view of the upcoming foggy season, the Northern Railway on Friday announced cancellation and diversion of several mail and express trains.

The Northern Railway plans to cancel 10 pairs, partially cancel three pairs and divert two pairs of mail/express trains in view of the upcoming foggy season, an official statement said.

"With winter setting in and the past experiences of train delays and bunching at intermediate stations, in view of the inconvenience to passengers during foggy season, the railway is compelled to make a plan every year to cancel or partially cancel or divert those trains which are mostly affected during fog," the statement said.

It further said that in case there is no fog, the Railway shall start booking for the trains, which were cancelled, with a three-day notice.

The trains, which were scheduled to be canceled are Jharkhand S.K, Howrah-Delhi Express, Lichchavi Express, Garhwal Express, Varanasi-Dehradun Express and Ajmer-Amritsar Express, among others.

The train services, which will be partially canceled are Howrah-Delhi Lal Quila Express, and Howrah-Sriganganagar Udhan Abha Express, among others.

The plan will come into effect from Dec 28.
