Northeast militants use 10-yr-olds as shield

Guwahati:

In order to evade the security net, terror groups in the Northeast are increasingly employing children to carry out their activities. Terror groups are hiring many 10-year-olds.

Though not entirely new in these parts but terror's new module of using children and students seems to be quite effective.

A student of NIIT Guwahati, Dibang Roy, is the latest terror suspect. He is allegedly working for the NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodoland).

Interestingly, Dibang employed two 10-year-old boys to deliver extortion notes of 3 lakh rupees to his own institute NIIT on Wednesday. But within hours the boys were apprehended which led to Dibang's arrest.

"Of late so many such incidents have taken place so that the real culprits can escape the net. So yes, of late this is the trend," says PP Singh, IGP Special Task Force.

This is the extortion note allegedly sent by the suspect. Police can ascertain only after thorough investigation. But outsourcing young, untrained cadres for all kinds of crimes is a common practice by militant outfits.
