Mau court summons Sanjay Dutt for provocative speech

Mau court summons Sanjay Dutt for provocative speech
Mau (Uttar Pradesh): A local court has issued summons to Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt asking him to appear before it on December 10 in connection with alleged provocative remarks made by him during an election rally in Mau last year.

Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar on Saturday issued the summons to the 51-year-old actor and Arshad Jamal, the local SP candidate for whom Dutt was campaigning during the Lok Sabha polls last year.

According to the prosecution, Dutt, then SP General Secretary, had alleged during the rally that he was booked under TADA and tortured under the third degree after the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts as he was the son of a Muslim mother (actress Nargis).

Dutt had been arrested on April 19, 1993, and served imprisonment for 18 months after he was found in possession of an AK-56 assault rifle.

Soon after the rally, Mau district police lodged an FIR against Dutt and Jamal and filed a chargesheet in the court.
