Heroin worth Rs 50 crores smuggled from Pakistan seized

Attari, Punjab: In a big haul, over 10 kg narcotics worth Rs 50 crore in the street market was seized on Tuesday by the Border Security Force personnel along the Indo-Pak border.

BSF Deputy Inspector General R P S Jaiswal said that the seizure was made early on Tuesday morning at Mohinder Post.

The consignment of heroin was wrapped in water proof plastic packets.

Jaiswal said that BSF troops, deployed on border in the area of Border Out Post Mohinder, heard some suspicious sound near the security fence.

"The troops heard eight gun shots from the direction of International Boundary. Immediately, the area was cordoned off and massive search operation was carried out," the officer said.

During the search, 10 packets of heroin worth Rs 50 crore were found inside a plastic pipe, he said.

So far, BSF has seized 322.266 kg of heroin this year.
