CWG scam: CBI registers fresh case against 6 Organising Committee officials

New Delhi: In fresh developments in the probe into the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam, the CBI today registered a case against six officials of the CWG Organising Committee (OC) and two firms for alleged irregularities in merchandising and retailing for the mega-sporting event.

The probe agency registered the case against OC members V K Verma, M Jaychandran, Surjit Lal, Ram Mohan, Group Captain K U K Reddy and Sangita Welingkar. The two firms named in the case are CDIL and Premier Brands Pvt Ltd.

The CBI also carried out raids in Panchkula, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Delhi, official sources said.

The CBI is now investigating 10 cases in connection with alleged irregularities in the conduct of the Games.
