Cold Wave Sweeps North India, 1 Reported Dead In Rajasthan

Amritsar reported minimum temperature at 1.9 Degree Celsius.

Chandigarh/Jaipur/ New Delhi: Cold conditions prevailed in major parts of north India with Amritsar reporting minimum temperature at 1.9 Degree Celsius, one degree below normal, a MeT department report said today.

Many part of Rajasthan also reported low temperature and claimed a life in Jaipur.

National capital Delhi also plunged to settle at 6 Degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average. The maximum temperature was recorded at 19 Degrees Celsius, also a notch below the normal, said a Met department official.

The minimum temperatures recorded at MeT stations at Lodhi Road, Palam, Ayanagar and Ridge was 5.3 Degree Celsius, 7 Degree Celsius, 6 Degree Celsius and 8.2 Degree Celsius respectively.

Foggy conditions were witnessed which led to the cancellation of 25 trains while 30 were delayed and 13 were rescheduled.

In Haryana's Ambala and Hisar, minimum temperatures settled at 5.6 Degree Celsius and 4.2 Degree Celsius respectively, while Narnaul shivered at 2.5 Degree Celsius, two notches below normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded minimum at 4.3 Degree Celsius, three notches below normal while minimum temperature in Patiala settled at 6.2 Degree Celsius.

Yesterday, the maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered around 17 Degree Celsius.

MeT department in its forecast said weather is likely to remain dry while moderate to dense fog is likely to occur at some places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
