New Delhi:

The Supreme Court has deferred the decision on the All-India Pre-Medical Test for admission to the MBBS course, which had been marred by a paper leak. The court will decide on June 15 whether a reexamination will be held.

Today, the Haryana police asked the court to cancel the exam in view of the fact that 44 beneficiaries have been identified. The number, it said will go up.

The police suspect there are around 700 students who benefitted from the paper leak.

"We can't sacrifice the sanctity of the India Pre-Medical Test for admission to MBBS," the court said. "You have failed and your process is outdated," the court told the board.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, which conducts the exam, has denied there was any leak. It has also opposed holding the exam afresh, saying it will take three or four months to go through the whole process.

The results of the exam were to be declared on June 5. But a group of students moved court seeking cancellation of the exam following news of the paper leak.
