Can't Believe PM Narendra Modi Mentioned Me, Says This Mumbai Engineer

I was surprised when PM mentioned my name, says Ganesh Venkatidiri

Mumbai: In the debut installment of what he pledged as a series of regular radio speeches, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said he wants people to write to him with suggestions and topics that they would like addressed.

In his 15-minute address, titled "Mann Ki Baat" (from the heart), the PM referred to two citizens who had contacted him. One of them is Ganesh Venkatidiri, an engineer from Mumbai. The PM, who referred to today's festival of Vijayadashami which celebrates the victory of good over evil, said Mr Venaktidiri had sent him an email on "eliminating the ills within us."

"It hasn't really sunk in but when PM mentioned my name during his address on AIR, I was surprised and felt extremely happy," Mr Venkatidiri said to news agency ANI. "I can now believe responses are being received, I will ask others too to communicate suggestions to the PM," he said.

The Prime Minister said in future, his radio addresses, which he hopes to use especially to connect with rural India, will be broadcast on Sundays at 11 am. He asked people to share their thoughts and suggestions with him at http://www.mygov.in
