While the Centre has dubbed it a terror attack, it is now emerging that the Special Cell of the Delhi Police had sent an intelligence input last October to Bihar's Director General of Police (DGP) and the Superintendent of Police in Gaya district about a possible strike by the IM.
"We have notified Bihar Police... we have informed them to tighten the security," Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar had said.
The warning came after the Special Cell busted an IM module which was allegedly responsible for the Pune serial blasts in August last year. During interrogation, it was revealed that the group was also planning a fidayeen (suicide) attack at the Mahabodhi temple.
Meanwhile, Junior Home Minister RPN Singh said that no one has claimed responsibility for the explosions, and that an investigation will be carried out to determine who was involved.
Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guards (NSG) are on their way to the site of the blasts. Additional security forces have been deployed to guard the temple complex.
