Adnan Sami, parents not to be arrested till Monday: Court

Mumbai:

In an interim relief to playback singer Adnan Sami and his parents, police on Friday said that they would not arrest the trio till Monday, the day on which sessions court would hear their anticipatory bail applications.

Sami and his parents -- Arshad and Naureen -- had on Thursday approached the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a case of alleged harassment lodged by the singer's wife, Sabah Galadari.

The court was to hear the bail pleas on Friday but adjourned the matter till Monday after the prosecution raised objection to the absence of Sami in court.

"Sami and his mother will have to remain present in the court during the hearing of their bail pleas.

Sami's father can be exempted from appearing as he suffers from cancer and is bed ridden," public prosecutor R V Kini argued.

Additional sessions judge C A Jadhav directed Sami and his mother to remain present in court on Monday after the prosecution assured that they would not be arrested till then.

Sami's wife had earlier this week filed an FIR against the trio alleging that she had beeen mentally harassed and tortured by them.

Sami in his bail plea has stated that the allegations levelled by Sabah are false, frivolous and vexatious.
