What is the cause for swelling in the neck?
Question
My mother is 54 years old. Suddenly, there was a swelling in the neck. When consulted at a clinic, they said that it is a disorder in submandibular salivary glands. There is no pain any where around the neck. She is a diabetic. What is the remedy? Is it good to be operated or to take the medicine? or does it show any symptoms of any other disease?

Depending upon the size of the swelling your mother needs treatment. A diagnosis can be made after FNAC: which is a test of the gland with a needle. Submandibular lymph nodes may enlarge from an infection, and the infection should be treated. Submandibular salivary gland enlargements usually need removal.
