Pooja Bhatt is one happy woman today. The actress and filmmaker has disclosed that she is now sober for five years. Posting a stunning black-and-white photo of herself, Pooja Bhatt wrote, "Sober is the new sexy. Five years sober today. Gratitude. Humility. Liberty." She added hashtags that reasserted her way of living. She wrote "sobriety rocks", "five years sober", "sober is the new black", "one day at a time" and "one step at a time." Actress Dia Mirza replied to the post with a red heart and face smiling with open hands emojis. Actress Sangeeta Bijlani wrote, “ Awesome, Pooja”.
A few days ago, Pooja Bhatt made a post quoting Canadian author Louise Penny from her book A Trick Of The Light. It read, "Sobriety isn't for cowards, Chief Inspector. Whatever you might think of an alcoholic, to get sober, really sober demands great honesty, and that demands great courage. Stopping drinking the easy part. Then we have to face ourselves. Our demons. How many people are willing to do that?"
Before this, Pooja Bhatt had opened up about her battle with alcoholism. She wrote, "Three years and nine months sober today. One more quarter and I will be four. As someone who drank openly, I chose to recover openly." She added, "Was ridiculed by some but lauded for being courageous by most."
Pooja Bhatt marks each year as a benchmark in her sober life. "Three years sober today," she wrote on this day in 2019. Quoting the Bible, she said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32)." She added, "Gratitude to the universe and the hand that guides me. Grateful for this new life, for a new perspective and renewed capacity to look myself and life squarely in the eye."
