Priyanka Chopra believes a relationship works better when both partners make an effort to understand where the other person comes from.

Speaking to E! News at the New York premiere of her documentary Cycle of Love, Priyanka opened up about Nick's efforts to stay connected with her roots. She said his willingness to accept and respect her heritage is a big part of their relationship.

“I don't know if I'd love him if he didn't. That is a big part of any story or any relationship that is multicultural. I think it's really important to have a sense of respect for your partner's roots,” the actor said.

Priyanka and Nick have often given fans a glimpse of how they bring their different backgrounds into their family life. Nick has joined Priyanka in celebrating Hindu festivals like Holi and Diwali. The couple is also raising their four-year-old daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, with a connection to both sides of her family.

For Priyanka, this mutual respect also seems to be one of the simple things that has helped their marriage stay strong. When asked about the secret behind their relationship, she kept her answer simple.

“Being kind to your partner. That's something that's really important,” the star said.

Priyanka and Nick had Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies in India in 2018. The lovebirds welcomed Malti Marie via surrogacy in 2022.

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is set to return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli's Varanasi. The film stars Priyanka as Mandakini, with Mahesh Babu playing Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumbha.

Varanasi is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.

Meanwhile, Priyanka has also joined Russell Crowe in the sci-fi action thriller Bluefly, directed by Nimrod Antal.
