Aasmaan Bhardwaj's Kuttey has got a release date now. The film, which stars Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj, will open in theatres on January 13 next year. So, mark the date on your calendars. Announcing the release date on Instagram, the star cast shared a note that read, “Kuttey will release in cinemas on 13th January 2023. The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Madan and Shardul Bhardwaj. Kuttey is directed by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, presented by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and produced by Luv Ranjan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ankur Garg and Rekha Bhardwaj.”
Arjun Kapoor, sharing the same note, captioned it, “Usher in the New Year with Kuttey, releasing in cinemas on 13th January 2023.”
While Kuttey, which is touted as a dark-comedy, marks Vishal Bhardwaj's first project with Arjun Kapoor, Shardul Bhardwaj (known for his performance in Eeb Allay Ooo!) and Kumud Mishra, it is the filmmaker's another collaboration with Tabu.
Their long list of work together includes Maqbool, Haider, Maachis and Talvar. The duo have also joined hands for Khufiya, which Vishal Bhardwaj has been directing.
Vishal Bhardwaj has also worked together with Naseeruddin Shah in critically-acclaimed movies like 7 Khoon Maaf, Dedh Ishqiya, Omkara, Dus Kahaniyaan, Ishqiya.
Kuttey is Konkona Sen Sharma's another project with Vishal Bhardwaj after Ek Thi Daayan, Talvar, Omkara and 7 Khoon Maaf. Radhika Madan, on the other hand, was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj in his 2018 film Pataakha.
The cast and makers of Kuttey announced the film in August last year. Tabu shared a motion poster of the film and captioned it, "Nah ye bhonkte hai, nah gurrate hai...bas katte hai (neither do they bark not they growl, they just bite). Presenting KUTTEY!"
Arjun Kapoor, earlier this year, also gave us a glimpse of his preparation for the film. He posted a video of himself getting a haircut. “Time for a trim, time for Kuttey,” the text on the video read. The actor wrote in the caption, “My hairstyle is called - 'Let's roll!' Kuttey.”
The music for Kuttey has been composed by Vishal Bhardwaj and written by Gulzar.
