On Hema Malini's 74th birthday on October 16 (Sunday) her friend and veteran actress Rekha visited her to make her day all the more special. Hema Malini shared pictures from Rekha's visit to her place on her Instagram profile on Tuesday and she wrote: "With my dearest friend Rekha who dropped by at home on my birthday to make me feel special. Our bonding has been for many decades which goes beyond being just colleagues." She added the hashtags #birthday and #celebration to her post. Rekha and Hema Malini starred in multiple films together, including Apne Apne (1987), Jaan Hatheli Pe (1987), Kahte Hain Mujhko Raja (1975).They also worked together in Dharmatma and the 2010 film Sadiyaan.

Earlier, Hema Malini had posted pictures from her birthday festivities with husband Dharmendra and she wrote: "Always lovely to be with my Dharam ji on my birthday. #birthday #celebration."
On the work front, Hema Malini was last seen in the 2020 film Shimla Mirchi. She is best-known for starring in films like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Dilagi, Raja Jaani, Do Dishayen, The Burning Train, Jugnu, Dil Kaa Heera and Dream Girl, among others.
Rekha is best-known for her performances in films such as Umrao Jaan (1981), for which she even won the National Film Award for Best Actress, Khubsoorat (1980), Ghar, Judaai, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Khoon Bhari Maang, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and Silsila. She was last seen in R Balki-directed Shamitabh, which released in 2015. The actress also featured in a special medley song in the 2018 film Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se.
