Actress Koena Mitra Goes To Police Over Allegedly Obscene Phone Calls

New Delhi: The Mumbai Police are investigating allegedly obscene phone calls made by an unidentified person to actress Koena Mitra's number, reports news agency PTI. Ms Mitra, best-known for her work in the film Apna Sapna Money Money, went to the police over the calls, allegedly made by the same person but from different numbers, which the 37-year-old actress has been receiving since Tuesday, PTI reports. She filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station on Wednesday. The Mumbai Police are investigating the matter under section 509 of the Indian Penal Code which deals with outraging the modesty of a woman.

"The man called her multiple times for two days using different telephone numbers. We are trying to trace the accused based on the call details," an officer from the Oshiwara police station told PTI.

In April, a man was arrested for sending indecent texts and photos to actress Sonarika Bhadoria, who stars as Parvati in popular TV show Devon Ke Dev Mahadev.

Koena Mitra was last seen in Bengali drama Besh Korechi Prem Korechi. Her earliest Bollywood credits include a special song, titled Khullam Khulla, in Ram Gopal Varma's 2002 film Road. She made her proper Bollywood debut with a full-fledged role in 2004's Musafir. Films like Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Apna Sapna Money Money, Heyy Babyy and Anamika are also on her resume.
