NDTV Exit Poll: Aam Aadmi Party to open account in Punjab
Chandigarh: Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party may not be faring too well nationally, but NDTV's Exit Poll shows that it is set to open its account in Punjab. The rookie party is likely to win two of Punjab's 13 seats. (Full Coverage: NDTV Exit Polls)

More significantly, it is expected to bag an impressive 23 per cent vote share - almost a fourth of the votes cast.

The Congress may be staring at bad news from one of the few states it had counted on. The party, which had won eight seats in 2009, is likely to be reduced to six this time.

For the Akali Dal-BJP combine, the results may come as a disappointment; the exit poll show that the alliance will win no more than the number of seats it won in 2009 - five - indicating that the perceived "Modi wave" had no impact in this state.

The alliance, which has been ruling the state since 2007, may finally be feeling the effects of anti-incumbency.

In Punjab, the BJP fielded its heavyweight leader Arun Jaitley, who contested from Amritsar against former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh of the Congress.
