Aam Aadmi Party's day 2 of executive meet: highlights

Arvind Kejriwal speaks at a press conference in Delhi.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is holding the day 2 of its national executive meet. They are discussing their plans for the Lok Sabha elections.

Here are the highlights:
  • In the past one and a half year, a lot has happened.
  • We have to discuss why we started this party?
  • It started on April 4, 2011, when we sat with Anna Hazare at Jantar Mantar for the Jan Lokpal Bill.
  • Winning or losing elections isn't the indicator of living upto the people's expectations.
  • We are trying to live up to the people's expectations in Delhi.
  • This is an experiment of the people - the people of Delhi have entrusted us.
  • The Lokpal Bill that the government has passed can't even kill a mouse, let alone end corruption.
  • Parliament must be cleansed, the people of this country must go in. Aam Aadmi should go in and talk about his interests, and that is why we formed the party.
  • When we go from here, the Delhi Cabinet will meet and we will discuss the Delhi Janlokpal Bill. We don't have a majority in the Vidhan Sabha so we don't know what the Congress and BJP will do.
  • I have received reports that people are not taking bribes in the state government now.
  • We did more in one month than they did in 15 years.
  • We ordered the audit of Delhi power companies, something they could not do in 5 years.
  • BJP was in power for five years and they just put up demands.
  • The country has tough problems, but they can all be solved.
  • We have money in the government. There is a lot of money and it needs to be used by an honest government.
  • We have not come to play politics, we have come to remove corruption.
  • Our aim should be that not a single corrupt person exists in the parliament.
  • We need to change all this. We have not come to fight in the elections. The people of the country will fight this election.
  • We are providing an option to the people of the country and the country has to work to make sure that not one corrupt person is elected to the parliament.
  • Let us make a list of corrupt people.
  • Arvind Kejriwal is not important. We have come to give everything we have for this country and not to play politics.
  • This is the list that we have compiled: Nitin Gadkari, Veerappa Moily, HD Kumaraswamy, Chidambaram, Alagiri, GK Vassan, Salman Khurshid, Mayawati, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Anu Tandon, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Kapil Sibal, Kamal Nath, Farooq Abdullah, A Raja.
  • Please add to this list. We have not included everybody.
  • We're not here in politics for power. The people who spend Rs 500 crore on branding  can't give this country an honest government
  • We must work towards ending dynasty politics in the country.
  • Let us get together to make sure that not one corrupt person wins a seat this year.
  • I have hope that this country will definitely change.
