Today was Delhi's hottest day this summer

New Delhi: It was a scorcher of a day for Delhi as the city hit its season's highest temperature at 42.2 degrees.

Today's maximum was three degree above normal and up from yesterday's 41.2 degree Celsius, while the minimum was at 26.7 degree Celsius, two notches above normal.

The heat wave is likely to continue - the high for tomorrow will hover around 42 degrees, says the MeT department. But the minimum could be 28 degree Celsius.

The humidity oscillated between 15 per cent and 54 per cent, the MeT department said.

Last year, the maximum had touched 45.4 degree Celsius on May 18, the highest in the past 10 years for the month. The record maximum for May was 47.2 degree Celsius recorded on 29th of the month in 1944.
