New Delhi: In line with the 'Swachch Bharat' mission, the government today inaugurated a public toilet complex in the heart of the city, built at a cost of about Rs 15 lakh.

Out of the six toilet facilities inaugurated today, one has been made with special amenities for the physically challenged people. The complex is provided with solar panel to meet its energy.

"This is an excellent design. Such toilets have been built in Delhi for the first time. Let us hope that more such toilets come up in the city," Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha said after inaugurating it at the Bhikaji Cama Place.

Constructed by state-run National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), the modular toilet designed by the National Institute of Design (NID) is aimed at eliminating open defecation and is made of composite board.

In order to address the issues of waste disposal, the whole system has been connected with underground sewer lines.

A total of 180 Swachch toilets will come up in the city within three months as per the Swachch Bharat campaign, according to the NBCC.
