Speeding car injures five in Delhi

New Delhi: A woman and her four children were injured by a speeding Honda City car in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar area on Friday.

According to police, the victim Mrs Ganga, aged 28, was going towards nearby Munirka village with her children, Rashmi, Mohit, Puja, all aged between 7 to 4 years, and 6 month old baby Kajal when the speeding car hit them near Chinmaya School. The driver of the car Mr Dilip, aged 20, was arrested from the spot.

Another person Sujan, aged 22, also received minor injuries in the accident.

"We received a call in the evening around 6.30 pm. Police officials rushed to spot where they arrested the driver," a police official said.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the car belonged to Mr Om Asthana of Vasant Vihar and Mr Dilip was employed with him as a car cleaner. He was driving without license and had taken the car out for a joyride when the incident took place.

All injured were rushed to the nearby Safdarjung hospital.
