Zilla parishad members to go cyber-savvy

Pune: Zilla parishad (ZP) members in Pune will be equipped with laptops in the near future. The general body meeting of the ZP will discuss the issue on Tuesday.

ZP members Ramesh Konde (Haveli), Sudam Ingale (Purandar) and Rahul Kapre (Daund) have forwarded the proposal and followed it up.

Konde told DNA that providing laptops is not a big deal as the ZP has ample funds. The ZP has earlier provided desktop computers to its employees. It had provided Rs25,000 interest-free loans to each of its staff to buy computers.

He said generally the agenda of ZP meetings is delivered to all the 75 members and 13 sabhapatis of various ZP committees by hand.

A peon travels all the way to members' places, which are situated in the 13 talukas. He hands over the meeting agenda to each one of them.

This is time-consuming and involves a lot of travel expenses. The laptops will do away with the practice.
