Baba Ramdev's brother injures two in car crash

Haridwar: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's younger brother Rambharat's speeding car injured two people at Haridwar, on June 16 night.

According to police officials, Rambharat was driving a Toyota Innova when he hit two bystanders around seven kilometers away from Ramdev's Yoga Ashram Patanjali Yogpeeth in Sadar area.

Rambharat has been taken into police custody in Haridwar.

"The tyre of the car burst and Rambharat lost control and he ran into two people, who are critically injured," said an eyewitness.

Eyewitnesses also reported that the police was downplaying the entire incident because of the influence Baba Ramdev wields in the city.

Meanwhile, investigating officer, B S Chouhan from Jwalapur police station said, "Rambharat was at the driver's seat of his Innova when the car hit two people walking at Sadar area in Haridwar. The incident happened around 10.15 pm, yesterday. Both people suffered minor injuries."

According to eyewitnesses, a dozen vehicles from the ashram reached the spot for damage control.
