Ahmedabad:
An engineering student and his friend were arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of the former's fiancee, police said.
Mahendra Sadhu and Hardik Gohil were apprehended for the murder of the former's finance Priyanka Ramanuj, whose body was found from a sewer on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway on October 24, they said.
Priyanka was missing since October 21.
According to police, during interrogation Sadhu confessed to killing Priyanka with help of his friend Gohil.
Sadhu had decided to eliminate Priyanka as he wanted to marry his former girlfriend who was now living with her parents in Dubai, they claimed.
Sadhu and Gohil had picked up Priyanka from a bus stand under the pretext of going for a car ride on October 21. They then allegedly drugged her by adding sedatives in water.
When she fell unconscious, Sadhu allegedly strangled her and then the two friends threw her body in the sewer, police said.
