Kia India is all set to launch the updated version of the Carens in the Indian market on 8 May 2025. However, there were certain questions regarding the new model, i.e., will it be a new model? Or will it be a new iteration of the Carens? And many other questions in the same vein. Clarifying all such confusions is a new spy shot of the upcoming MPV. This picture shows the Carens moniker with a Clavis badge indicating it will be an upgraded version of the MPV already on sale.
Apart from that, the picture also reveals the design of the vertically oriented tail light, which gets a light strip covering the width of the vehicle. It is also clear that the MPV will get a refreshed look with a triangular setup for the headlamp and reverse L-shaped DRL. Furthermore, the vehicle will have an upright stance resembling an SUV. Meanwhile, the silhouette of the vehicle is more or less the same. However, it is expected to get new colour options.

To top off the refreshed design, the Kia Carens Clavis will also introduce a host of new features. This includes Level-2 ADAS, a new infotainment screen with integrated instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, a new audio system, and more. All of this will be complemented by a new layout for the dashboard.
With these changes in place, the Kia Carens Clavis will be more expensive than the current iteration of the vehicle. Presently, the MPV is sold at a starting price of Rs 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom), and goes up to Rs 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a similar strategy to what Maruti Suzuki uses with the Ertiga and the XL6 to cover a wider consumer base.
Amid all these changes, one thing that is expected to be the same is the powertrain. The Kia Carens Clavis will likely have the same options offered with the current Carens. This means it will have a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The transmission options include a manual gearbox, an intelligent manual transmission (iMT), a dual-clutch automatic (DCT), and traditional automatic transmissions.
