Tata Motors has unveiled the new petrol-powered versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs ahead of their official launch in India. Both models feature the company's latest 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, named Hyperion, which was recently introduced with the all-new Sierra.
The automaker has released a new video showing the Harrier and Safari in action at the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The test was conducted in a controlled environment to demonstrate the performance, top-speed capability, and fuel efficiency of the new engine. It does not reflect the real world performance of the vehicle.

In the video, a red Tata Harrier featuring the "Hyperion" badging is seen undergoing calibration before heading out on the track. The SUV is followed by the Red Dark Edition of the Safari, which was also tested with the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. According to Tata Motors, the Safari achieved a top speed of 216 kmph during the test.
As part of the NATRAX testing, Tata Motors achieved notable fuel efficiency figures as well. The Harrier returned a certified mileage of 25.9 kmpl, while the Safari registered 25 kmpl. The Harrier's figure has been officially recognised by the India Book of Records as the highest fuel efficiency recorded by a petrol SUV with a manual transmission in India.
