Ola Electric Mobility has officially filed a design patent for its debut electric car in India. While the patent images reveal limited details, they hint at a compact EV that bears resemblance to the MG Comet EV. This development follows Ola's earlier teaser of its first electric car, showcased during the Sankalp 2025 event.
From the design patent images, it is quite evident that Ola's upcoming compact electric car sports a boxy, tallboy stance, drawing visual parallels to the MG Comet EV in terms of overall silhouette. However, unlike the Comet's two-door layout, Ola's EV features a more practical four-door configuration along with a dedicated boot. Based on the design patents, the Ola EV also appears to be larger in size, offering more cabin and cargo space than its MG rival.

Design patents reveal that Ola's compact EV places its wheels at the extreme corners, a move aimed at maximizing interior space. This layout minimizes front and rear overhangs, giving the car a distinctly utilitarian stance. The exterior continues this functional design language, with a flat front fascia, clean bumper styling, and sharp lighting elements. A full-width LED light bar could also be part of the final package, adding a modern touch to its minimalist profile.
Ola compact electric car will be underpinned by its versatile Gen 4 platform, which is set to support a broad lineup of future products, including a three-wheeler LCV. Ola's Gen 4 platform will incorporate the advanced 4680 Bharat cell, paired with a newly developed 16 kW electric motor. This setup is claimed to deliver a 15 percent boost in energy efficiency over the outgoing Gen 3 architecture.
