Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the first electric SUV of the brand, has been in discussions for a long time now. The production of the SUV commenced earlier this year in India, and at the time, the brand had confirmed that the electric vehicle would be launched in December. The e-Vitara is exclusively manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing plant in Gujarat, and the company began exporting the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the e-Vitara, in August. In global markets, the Suzuki e-Vitara offers two battery choices: a 49kWh and a 61kWh. These batteries drive an electric motor at the front, with the larger option also available in a dual-motor configuration that provides all-wheel drive, referred to by Suzuki as AllGrip-e. The e-Vitara with front-wheel drive generates 144 hp using the 49 kWh battery and 174 hp with the 61 kWh variant, while the top-tier all-wheel-drive model incorporates an additional electric motor on the rear axle, producing a total of 184 hp.

According to the WLTP test cycle, the e-Vitara with the 61 kWh battery and front-wheel drive offers the longest range at 428 km, followed by the all-wheel-drive variant at 394 km. The base model with the 49 kWh battery has a range of 344 km. The front-wheel-drive e-Vitara will first likely be introduced in India with the larger battery pack, providing over 500 km as rated by the ARAI; the dual-motor variant is anticipated to be available later.
