India will once again be represented at the Dakar Rally in 2026, with experienced racer Sanjay Takale preparing for his second outing at the event. The Dakar, often described as one of the toughest rally raids in the world, is a demanding test of endurance for both drivers and machines, making Takale's participation significant for Indian motorsport. Respected for his discipline and consistency, Takale brings years of international rallying experience to the competition. His return places him among the few Indian drivers who have taken part in this iconic global motorsport challenge.

Sanjay Takale made history during his previous Dakar outing with an impressive 18th overall finish, a remarkable achievement in one of the most demanding motorsport events in the world. With over 35 years of racing experience, spanning motorcycles, cars, and international rally championships, Takale approaches Dakar 2026 with a sharper mindset and enhanced technical insight. His journey reflects decades of learning, adaptation, and relentless pursuit of excellence at the highest levels of motorsport.

"My first Dakar was an extraordinary experience. Dakar changes you once you race it; you are never the same. It challenges you mentally, breaks you down, and teaches you resilience, discipline, and the true meaning of fighting back. I emerged not just as a stronger driver but as a different person altogether. This year, my focus is clear to return, finish the rally again, and significantly improve my position. I will once again be competing for my team, aerpace Racers, with technical support from Compagne Sharenne, France. I am proud to represent India as the only four-wheeler entry for the second consecutive year. My goal is simple: to see the finish line and to finish stronger, says Sanjay Takle.
