Hyundai Motor has unveiled the Crater Concept at the AutoMobility LA 2025. The model presents the concept of a compact off-road SUV designed to tackle tough terrain. The concept might go into production and is a preview of a future production model. It has been designed at the South Korean automaker's Hyundai America Technical Centre in Irvine, California.
The Crater Concept features a compact monocoque structure. It is designed for versatility and can handle various terrains. The vehicle boasts steep approach and departure angles ideal for off-road adventures. It is equipped with 18-inch wheels and 33-inch off-road tires that provide excellent traction and ground clearance.

The exterior of the Crater Concept adheres to Hyundai's Art of Steel design philosophy. It has a sharply defined appearance from the sides and a broad skid plate that extends along the underside. Additionally, a roof carrier is included for attaching lights and carrying cargo. The concept incorporates limb risers on the front hood to protect against branches. The fender design is minimalist for improved practicality.
Inside, the Crater Concept caters to those who prioritize functionality. The forms are enveloped in durable yet soft materials. The dashboard features a crash pad that connects the interior with the exterior. The concept includes a head-up display that shows a camera feed. Light passes through the perforated areas on the crash pad.
The seats are designed with wraparound contours. The three-dimensional padding offers support during off-road journeys. Side bolsters help keep the body secure. A four-point seatbelt system ensures safety. The steering wheel features buttons for terrain modes: Snow, Sand, Mud, Auto, and XRT.
