Hero MotoCorp and Valeo have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for scooters and motorcycles, advancing safety in the two-wheeler space. The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding on January 8, 2026, combines Valeo's strength in automotive sensing with Hero's scale and reach. Together, they plan to roll out intelligent safety technologies across entry-level and premium models, extending to Hero's electric mobility offerings under the VIDA brand.
This collaboration aims to enhance riders' safety by introducing advanced sensing, perception, and intelligent technologies tailored specifically for two-wheelers across both entry-level and premium segments, including the Company's emerging electric mobility portfolio under Vida.

Hero MotoCorp, in collaboration with Valeo, is working on the Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) platform to enhance safety in its motorcycles and scooters. Using radar and smart camera technologies, the system introduces practical features aimed at improving rider awareness and reducing accident risks. The focus is on making everyday riding more secure and convenient, while also supporting broader goals of smarter and more sustainable mobility. Early trials have already shown promising results, with proof-of-concept systems designed to safeguard both riders and pedestrians. The system addresses the realities of urban traffic, mixed road usage, and vulnerable road users through real-time sensing and intelligent alerts, with relevance across internal combustion and electric two-wheelers.

The range of offerings from Valeo includes a radar-based system that enhances rider safety by supporting critical warnings such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Distance Warning (DW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW). A vision system based on high-resolution cameras enables enhanced Pedestrian Detection, Lane Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Lane Departure Warning. Intelligent image processing allows the system to identify road signs and obstacles, even in low-light conditions. When combined, these radar and vision systems create a robust and comprehensive safety net for two-wheeler riders, spanning conventional and electric platforms.
