Bentley has unveiled the Bentayga X Concept, an off-road-focused take on its luxury SUV, at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, signaling a possible new rugged direction for the brand's flagship SUV line.
What is the Bentayga X Concept?
The Bentayga X Concept is a one-off study based on the Bentayga Speed, created to gauge interest in a more off-road-oriented version of Bentley's luxury SUV rather than as a confirmed production model. Bentley says the concept is meant to "stimulate and gain feedback" on an enhanced off-road Bentayga and coincides with the start of a new multi-year partnership with FAT International.

Powertrain and Off-road Hardware
The concept retains the Bentayga Speed's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, producing 650 650 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive. It continues with air suspension and Bentley Dynamic Ride, the 48V active anti-roll control system, to balance on-road comfort with increased off-road capability.

Key Off-road-focused Changes:
The SUV in this avatar gets a 55 mm higher ride height, taking ground clearance to just under 310 mm. Along with it, the track is widened by 120 mm for improved stability. This, in turn, pushes out the wheel arches by 40 mm to accommodate the wider stance. The performance on land is complemented by its capabilities in water, with a wading depth increased to over 550 mm.
Wheels, Tyres and Exterior Add-ons
The Bentayga X Concept rides on bespoke forged one-piece 22-inch wheels from Brixton, wrapped in large-aspect, high-profile off-road tyres for better traction on loose and slippery surfaces. Blacked-out lower body elements on the bumpers, wheel arches, side skirts, and rear splitter add visual separation from the standard Bentayga.
A roof-mounted carrier with four auxiliary spotlights extends its practicality for longer off-road trips and nighttime driving. In the show car, the rack carries an electric Bambino-size go-kart from the FAT Karting League, underlining the FAT partnership and highlighting extra cargo capacity; overall vehicle height with the roof gear reaches 2.49 metres. The titanium sports exhaust from Akrapovic remains prominent at the rear, and twin towing eyes have been added at the front.
Role at the FAT Ice Race
Alongside the Bentayga X Concept, Bentley is also showcasing several models at the event, including a Bentayga Speed, the newly announced Continental GTC S, the Continental GT S in dynamic demonstration runs, and the Speed Six Continuation Series Car Zero.
