Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, has shared a video of Mahindra Armado armoured vehicles being transported by rail, drawing widespread attention on social media. Posting on X, he captioned the clip: "Mahindra Armado... Reporting for duty..Sir!" The video has since garnered more than 6.6 lakh views.

In the footage, several Armado vehicles, painted in green and khaki military colours, can be seen secured on a moving train as it passes through a station. The exact location has not been identified. People on the platform are seen recording the movement, showing public interest in the sight of indigenous defence hardware being moved across the country.

The post has elicited a mix of appreciation and criticism. Many users praised the contribution to national security, with comments such as "Great duty, greater cause. Mahindra Armado

The Mahindra Armado is an indigenous Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV) developed by Mahindra Defence Systems for the Indian Armed Forces. It is designed to operate in high-risk environments while providing mobility, protection and payload capacity.

In terms of protection, the Armado offers B7 ballistic and STANAG Level II armouring. This means it can withstand armour-piercing rounds from high-powered sniper rifles, as well as threats from grenades, land mines and artillery blasts up to 115 mm at close range.

The vehicle is powered by a 3.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 215bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a 4x4 drivetrain. It can reach a top speed of around 120 kmph and carry up to eight personnel along with a payload of one tonne.

Additional features include a central tyre inflation system and BFGoodrich all-terrain run-flat tyres, which allow the Armado to travel up to 50 km even with a puncture or loss of air pressure. The vehicle can be configured for roles such as weapons carrier, reconnaissance platform or border security vehicle.
