5 Features Harley-Davidson X440 T Has Over Royal Enfield Classic 350

Harley has revised the X440 line-up, launching the top-of-the-line T variant. Here's a quick comparison between X440 T and Classic 350.

5 Features Harley-Davidson X440 T Has Over Royal Enfield Classic 350

Harley-Davidson has renewed its battle against Royal Enfield. Harley-Davidson has launched the new X440 T in the Indian market. Positioned at the top of the X440 lineup, this model represents the first major update since the original X440 debuted under the Hero-Harley partnership three years ago.

While the Royal Enfield Classic 350 continues to dominate the retro cruiser space, the X440 T brings a modern edge with advanced technology and rider-focused features. For enthusiasts seeking a blend of heritage and innovation, here are five standout features that give the Harley-Davidson X440 T a clear advantage over the RE Classic 350:

Ride Modes:

The X440 T introduces multiple ride modes. These allow riders to tailor throttle response and power delivery to suit different conditions-whether cruising on highways or navigating city traffic. X440 T has road and rain ride modes. In rain mode, the rider can't switch off traction control and rear ABS. The torque output is 10% lower in rain mode.

Switchable Traction Control:

Harley-Davidson has equipped the X440 T with switchable traction control - a feature absent in the Classic 350. This system prevents wheel slip during sudden acceleration or on slippery surfaces, ensuring stability and reducing the risk of mishaps.

Switchable Rear ABS:

Both the motorcycles offer dual-channel ABS. The X440 T takes it a step further with switchable ABS. This allows riders to disable rear ABS when tackling off-road trails or enjoying spirited rides.

Ride-By-Wire Technology:

The X440 T employs electronic throttle body and ride-by-wire throttle control, replacing traditional cables with electronic precision. This improves throttle response. In contrast, the Classic 350 sticks to old-school mechanical systems.

Panic Brake Alert:

In emergency braking situations, the X440 T activates a panic brake alert system, warning vehicles behind through flashing indicators.

Price Checker:

Harley-Davidson X440 T is priced at Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The T variant offers advanced tech like ride modes and traction control, setting it apart from other variants. The updated lineup now includes three variants-Vivid, S, and T-priced between Rs 2.35 lakh and Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom), while the entry-level Denim variant with spoke wheels has been discontinued.

In comparison, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 remains a more affordable option, retailing between Rs 1,81,118 and Rs 2,15,750 (ex-showroom). One reason for Harley's higher price is the recent revision in GST. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 attracts 18 per cent GST, whereas the X440 falls under the 40 per cent GST bracket, significantly impacting its sticker price due to 350-cc-plus engine displacement.

Engine Check:

The Harley-Davidson X440 T packs a 440-cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine delivering 27 hp and 38 Nm with a 6-speed gearbox. In contrast, the Royal Enfield Classic 350's gets a 349-cc air-cooled, engine which produces 20.2 hp and 27 Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
