Hyundai has launched the 2026 Verna in the Indian market, marking the first refresh of this model since its debut in 2025. The update includes revisions to the design, interior, and features of the vehicle. Moreover, the automaker has adopted the new 'HX' nomenclature to replace the previous designation. These changes are aimed at enhancing the sedan's competitiveness against rivals such as the Slavia, Virtus, and City by offering better perceived value. It is currently sold at a statring price of Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
Even with these changes, there are still a few areas where the Verna facelift could have gone further to improve its appeal to consumers. In this article, we point out a few changes that we think could have improved its proposition in the eyes of a typical consumer out for a sedan in the market.

Headlamp Design
One of the most obvious missed opportunities is the headlamp design. While the facelifted model gains a sharper front treatment, the headlamps remain largely evolutionary rather than radical. It has also been among the most criticised elements of the car for a few consumers. A more distinctive, split-headlamp layout or a full LED matrix setup would have helped the Verna stand out more clearly in the mid-size sedan segment.

N-Line Treatment
For the enthusiasts out there, the addition of a variant with N-Line treatment would have been desirable. The South Korean brand already has the N-Line variant for other models in the Indian market, including the i20, Creta, and Venue. This could have brought sportier bodywork, aggressive aesthetic changes, variant-specific interior changes and a different tune for the suspension setup. This could have given consumers a taste of a performance-oriented sedan without going into 'N' territory.

Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is another feature that could have elevated the perception of the 2026 Verna. While higher trims already get a good level of sound and privacy insulation, factory-fitted tinted side and rear glass would have improved cabin privacy. This is a relatively low-cost addition that many buyers in this segment would value.
Larger Rims
Larger wheels also remain in an area where the Verna could have been bolder. The current line-up tops out with 16-inch alloys, which look proportionate but not particularly bold. Adopting 17-inch wheels on the top variants, paired with a slightly more aggressive profile, would have given the sedan a more planted and premium stance without compromising ground clearance or ride comfort.
Panoramic Sunroof
The sedan is currently offered with a single-pane sunroof. To attract more buyers, the car could have had a bigger panoramic sunroof, as it is one of the features desired by consumers. Additionally, it helps improve the perception of space in the cabin.
