Mumbai cops quiz Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts accused

Ahmedabad: Mumbai crime branch personnel on Tuesday interrogated the accused of Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts currently lodged in Sabarmati jail. They were questioned in connection with the email that was sent from Mumbai by hacking an unsecured Wi-Fi internet connection soon after the Varanasi blast.

A Mumbai police team led by police inspector Arun Chauhan interrogated Mohammad Mansoor Peerbhoy and a few others in Sabarmati jail.

Sources said that Peerbhoy, who is a software engineer, was interrogated for nearly two hours to find out about the people who could be behind the email. "The interrogation was conducted on Tuesday in the Sabarmati jail," the source said.

Peerbhoy is believed to be the head of the technical cell of the terror outfit, Indian Mujahideen. "He could have trained many other people in hacking internet connections to send emails," the source said.

Apart from Peerbhoy, a few other accused were also interrogated by the Mumbai crime branch sleuths. There are more than 40 accused of the Ahmedabad blasts case who were arrested by the Ahmedabad police from different places including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Azamgarh and Pune.

All the accused have been lodged in Sabarmati jail since August 2008 when the Ahmedabad police busted an Indian Mujahideen module.
