Nursery admissions: First list today
NDTV Correspondent, Monday February 1, 2010, New Delhi

If you are a parent of a 3-4 year-old seeking nursery admissions then this is it. The first list of admissions will be announced by schools in the Capital today.

For nursery admissions, schools in the city follow a 100-point system with award points for factors like siblings studying in the same school, neighbourhood, alumni, girl child or first born.

But with the Delhi government insisting that parents' profession or educational qualification cannot be a criteria for nursery admissions, many are worried their children will get a raw deal due to this 'last minute' decision.

The point system is good, but more weightage should be given for children living near to the school, rather then sibling or girl child. I was surprised to see the list as there was 90% of the girls, where will boys go? I have a boy and we are struggling to get him an admission in the nursery.
