Bollywood actress Yogita Dandekar
Bollywood actress Yogita Dandekar has alleged that a businessman assaulted and abused her in an apparent case of road rage in Juhu in Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
The businessman Vimal Hansraj Surana and his driver were arrested by the police and booked on charges of molestation and voluntarily causing hurt. They were later released on bail.
Ms Dandekar claims an argument ensued between Mr Surana's driver and soon there was a volley of abuses. At this point, Ms Dandekar said Mr Surana himself got out of the car and assaulted her.
Speaking to NDTV, Ms Dandekar said, "The owner of the car was observing the whole incident from his car. He then came out and started arguing with me, and I requested him to park the car and sort out the matter calmly."
"But he just did not listen and grabbed my hair and started slapping me. I was just shocked and I could not get back in my senses for the next few minutes," she said. "I came out of the car and told him that he will have to pay for his deeds, and again he held me and threw me towards a fence and hit me more. The rod hit my back really hard and I told him that whatever he's doing is not correct."
Mr Surana however has denied the allegations. In a statement, Mr Surana's lawyer Mahesh Vaswani said, "My client states that the police just refused to see reason with my client that it was the accident case and the offender was Ms Dandekar, and there was no substance in the allegations made by Ms Dandekar."
