Obama address: MPs told to behave
New Delhi: US President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Parliament on Monday and MPs have been told to behave in a dignified manner during the US President's address.

The advisory has been sent by the Parliament Affairs ministry to leaders of parliamentary parties to ensure that there is decorum and dignity of the institution is maintained.

Several MPs had jumped over benches and jostled to reach President Bill Clinton and shake hands with him when he arrived to address the joint sitting of Parliament in March, 2000.

However, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is against issuing such instructions to the MPs, "who are mature enough to behave".

The Speaker watched a video on Clinton's visit.

BJP MP Arjun Ram Meghwal said the advisory had been issued by the Ministry.

Obama will address the two Houses of Parliament's joint sitting in the Central Hall of Parliament House today.
