ITBP constable seeks protection from father
Delhi: A head constable of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has sought security from the Uttarakhand police on grounds that she is scared her father would kill her.

The 24-year-old eloped with her neighbour and got married without informing her parents.

When the girl was going to Nainital where she was posted, her purse, which also contained a mobile phone, was stolen. Her father, Raja Ram called her on the number, but the thief picked up and told him that he had found the purse in a train. He also told Raja Ram the girl's name from an ATM card that was kept inside the purse and also told him about the marriage photographs. Raja Ram then called up one of her daughter's cousins and told him about the incident and said he was going to Nainital to bring his daughter back.

When the girl called her cousin and came to know about the whole matter, she ran away to Delhi from Nainital and wrote a letter to the Uttarakhand police, asking for security.

While she was earlier supposed to rejoin her duties on Monday, she has now sought a leave extension by three days.
