Gang-rape protests: Roads to avoid in Delhi
New Delhi: In the wake of Sunday's massive protests near India Gate over the gang-rape of a paramedic student, the Delhi Police has put in several traffic restrictions in place as a precautionary measure.

According to an elaborate traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police, all the eight arterial roads that lead into India Gate and crossroads, including Rajpath, Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road, will remain closed for general traffic today.

Apart from the larger clampdown around India Gate, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also closed nine Metro stations in Central Delhi today. Prohibitory orders under section 144 that were imposed yesterday will remain.

Below is the full text of the traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police on its Facebook page:

"Raj Path including central vista India Gate (C- Hexagon), Raj Path from C-Hexagon to Vijay Chowk including cross roads Rafi marg, Jan Path and Man Singh Road will remain closed for general traffic.

"For North-South traveling Sardar Patel Marg, Ridge road, Mother Teressa Crescent Road, R M L round about on west side and Mathura Road, Ring Road on east side of Raj Path would be available.

"Plying of buses on Mathura Road between Neela Gumbad Nizamuddin to W-point would remain closed. These buses would ply on Ring road."
