Light showers hit Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: With light showers lashing several parts of the state, temperature dipped further in Uttar Pradesh, even as two more persons died due to cold in Barabanki district, official sources said here on Wednesday.

While the body of a 30-year-old man was recovered in Safedabad, a 70-year-old woman died in Peerbatawn area of Barabanki due to intense cold, taking the total toll to 14, they said.

With minimum temperature hovering around 1.8 degree Celsius, Muzaffarnagar was the coldest place in the state, followed by Meerut, which recorded a minimum temperature of 3.6 degree Celsius, three notches below normal, Met department said.

 Gorakhpur recorded a low of 4.9 degree Celsius, which was five degrees below normal, while, Bareilly recorded a minimum of 7 degree Celsius two degrees below the normal mark.

In Aligarh, minimum temperature was 7.5 degree Celsius, which was one notch below normal.

Capital Lucknow recorded a maximum of 15.4 degree Celsius, which was eight notches below normal.
