New Delhi: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed in unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers on the International Border in Samba district of Jammu region today, police said. BSF then opened retaliatory fire, in which four Pakistan Rangers have been killed.

Sources have said BSF Director General DK Pathak has briefed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The BSF has claimed that the Pakistan Rangers sued for peace after the Indian side retaliated.

The Pakistan Rangers raised white flags requesting the BSF to stop firing, so it could retrieve the bodies of its personnel killed in the retaliatory firing. BSF personnel complied, and the Rangers have retrieved two of the bodies, according to sources.

"Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on the Regal border outpost of BSF in Samba district of Jammu region," a senior police officer said in Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
